Why We Built This Site

We were tired of "expert" reviews that felt like they were written by people who've never set foot on a boat or felt a morning bite on a cold Colorado river. So we built FishingGears.org ourselves — and we put our names (and our tackle boxes) on every word.

The Mission

We didn't build FishingGears.org just to list products. We built it because we were tired of "expert" reviews that felt like they were written by people who have never stepped on a boat. We are a team of tech professionals by day and shore-casters by night — digital marketers, web developers, and data researchers who also happen to wake up at 4:30 AM when the bass are biting in Florida.

Every guide on this site is the result of genuine research: reading technical spec sheets, diving into hundreds of verified buyer reviews, cross-referencing local fishing reports from Florida, Colorado, and California, and talking to anglers in the field. We believe that good information is the best gear you can carry.

Our Promise to You

You won't find fake "lab test" badges here. We don't own every piece of gear on the planet — and we won't pretend to. What we do have is a passion for deep research and an unwavering commitment to truth. We spend hours digging through technical specs, verified user feedback, and local fishing reports so you don't have to stand in a tackle shop guessing.

When we recommend a product, it's because we genuinely believe it provides real value to the USA fishing community — not because someone paid us to say it.

Who We Are

The DU Tech Team is a collective of web developers and digital marketers who are also avid anglers. We are based across the USA with a specific focus on the fishing communities we know best:

  • Florida (FL): Saltwater pier fishing, bass lakes, and Everglades backcountry — we know the snook spots and the snapper holes.
  • Colorado (CO): High-altitude trout streams, the South Platte, and the legendary Eleven Mile Canyon. Cold water, tight lines, and mountain scenery.
  • California (CA): Pacific pier casting, Sacramento River salmon runs, and the Delta largemouth bass scene — we fish it all.

We also cover destinations across the Pacific Northwest, the Great Lakes, and the Gulf Coast because great fishing doesn't stop at state lines.

Integrity and Truthfulness

We hold ourselves to a simple standard: we only write what we believe. Every product recommendation is based on genuine research and field-testing principles. We are transparent about our affiliate relationships (see our Affiliate Disclosure), and we never let a commission influence which products we feature or how we rank them.

If a product has a flaw, we say so. If there's a cheaper alternative that works just as well, we tell you. That's the deal.

Join the Community

We're building more than a website — we're building a community of American anglers who help each other catch more fish and waste less money on gear that doesn't deliver. Follow our journey, share your catches, and let's keep the conversation going:
