Saltwater Paradise
The Keys are the crown jewel of Florida saltwater fishing. Bonefish on gin-clear flats, Tarpon under the bridges, Permit in the deeper channels, and Marlin offshore in the deep blue — the Keys offer more species diversity per square mile than anywhere else in the USA.

Islamorada Humps are GPS coordinates locals guard like family secrets. The humps are underwater ledges 40–60 ft down, about 12–18 miles offshore, where Blackfin Tuna stack up in spring and fall. Drift live ballyhoo on a heavy fluorocarbon leader. When you find them, you're in for a fight.

Surviving the Florida Sun
The Florida sun is no joke. It reflects off the water and can burn you in minutes — even on overcast days. We never step on a boat without a high-quality cooling shirt and a buff. Also, keep an eye on the horizon: those 2:00 PM summer thunderstorms roll in fast. Graphite rods are essentially lightning rods — get off the water immediately when you hear thunder.
Long-sleeve UPF50 sun shirt — non-negotiable. Cooling shirts are cooler than t-shirts in direct sun.
SPF50+ sunscreen applied before launch, reapplied every 2 hours. Lips, ears, and back of neck are the forgotten spots.
Hydration: Bring 2x more water than you think you need. Florida heat causes dehydration fast on the water.
The 2 PM Rule: Plan to be off the water by 1:30 PM in summer months. Afternoon thunderstorms appear in under 20 minutes.
